The disciples and Jesus' followers were waiting for Him to proclaim His earthly kingdom. They were all in. The miracles wowed them, the signs made them believers, the teachings were with power and authority. They had never known or seen or heard of anyone like Jesus. They were "pins and needles" waiting.

Then, not so good Friday came. Their hopes shattered. Their dreams dashed. Their future uncertain. They waited. Saturday came, they were still waiting. In shock. In disbelief. In confusion. In doubt. In fear. Yet, while they were waiting, with all of these emotions, they still observed the Sabbath. While they were waiting, they still loved their Savior who had become their Lord. While they were waiting, Sunday was coming. But before Sunday, the waiting included the darkest hours.

On the Mount drops fell from His forehead down
Sweat and blood dripped when no one was around.
The others fell asleep, unable to pray
It was the beginning of the darkest day.
An angel came and ministered to Jesus
Gave Him strength for the price He'd pay to free us.
The crowd who praised Him the week before
Came to betray Him, honor Him no more.
With swords and false words they came to indict
Rome against the Savior, yet He withheld His might.
His disciples scattered no more in sight
They thought this wasn't good and shrunk in fright.
Brought before Pilate and Herod He was
Beaten, mocked insulted, spit upon because
Darkness reigned during those hours
When the Son of God relinquished His powers.
Angels could have come at the sound of His voice
But they watched and waited as this was God's choice.
Women mourned and wailed for the cross was His fate.
On His shoulders sat the whole world's weight.
A crown of thorns was forced upon His head.
The charge against Him, "King of the Jews" it read.
His skin ripped apart from His head to His feet
Beyond recognition He had been beat.
With a final cry He breathed His last breath.
It was the darkest day, the Savior's death.

Oh, the places we've been this year and the last,
From reading books on TV and having a blast,
To showing up in Colorado and NY in the snow.
Visiting Joni & Friends during Family Retreat,
To bookstores and libraries, what a treat!
And kids coloring angel pages, so sweet.
Invitations came in to speak and participate,
What an honor, what a thrill, to stimulate.
From Florida to PA, angel sightings abound,
At Christmas and all the year round.
The angels have brought comfort and joy,
In houses near and far, for girls and for boys.
We are glad to be all over the places,
Bringing bliss and putting smiles on faces.
We look forward to more in the coming year,
With a new book in store and more angel cheer.
So as you wind down your year and get ready for the next,
​Know we count You as a blessing, above all the rest.

An Irish Angel Poem

Feeling green on this Irish Saint's day,
An angel came down from heaven to say,
"It's not about whiskey and beer,
and parades with flagrant cheer.
The day celebrates lives born anew,
With great hope for all, not just a few.
St. Patrick told of a love so divine.
The Irish turned from their sins and got in line.
He faced the Druids and their gods they threw down.
They worshipped Jesus in the hills and all through town.
A great revival in Ireland it was.
From a slave to an immigrant just because
Patrick found the love of a Savior.
That love so changed his behavior.
He travelled through Ireland to those who
made him a slave and told them he knew
the God who saw what they did but loved them too.
The Patron Saint of Ireland's heart had changed.
And his mission to tell others did not wane.
So now you know how it all came to be.
St. Patrick's Day's about changed hearts you see."

Before Patrick was a saint, he was an atheist. Through some divine dreams and circumstances, he became a Christian and was convicted to go back to Ireland. In the country that enslaved him, he told everyone of a Savior- Jesus- who saved his soul. Christianity spread because of his testimony. He started many churches, monasteries, and Christian towns in his newfound home of Ireland.

And the rest is history.

That's a lot of young ones. Today is a day to remember these kids. It is Children's Grief Awareness Day, a national movement to bring awareness to grieving children's needs.

In Central Florida, New Hope For Kids has over 450 children in their grief program. They offer a supportive and caring environment for kids in their grief journey by giving them hope and healing. They also provide scholarships, holiday gifts, summer camps, and more.

Since kids and families are what Where Is Your Angel?™ is all about, we are proud to support New Hope for Kids for the 2nd year in a row. Tonight they have their annual walk called Hope for the Season. They will walk around Cranes Roost Park, wear blue, and hold a vigil for the loved ones they have lost. I was asked to come in and talk to them about the writing process. The students were impressive, interactive, and engaged! They had some great ideas of what genre of books or materials they would like to write.

During our discussion, we talked about the 4 steps in the writing process. The two things you do before you pick up the pen, next steps to get the story cranking and characters developed, and then putting on the finishing touches. It was a great time. We were so glad to be there and share with these budding writers steps to get them on their way to success – whether it be a school paper or a story they write for the masses.

Well, this weekend my family and I went to see a good family movie that is worth your time. In fact, at the end of the movie, everyone in the audience clapped.

We went to see Camp Hideout. An adventurous movie about kids at camp but with a twist. One of my children came back from a camp retreat recently so it seemed apropros for us to watch this movie. 


Christopher Lloyd, aka Doc from the Back to the Future series, is one of the central figures in the movie. He played a very imposing character at the camp with a ferocious sidekick. 

Kids of all ages will appreciate Camp Hideout as there are younger campers and older campers. This movie's main character, Noah, plays a kid who is in trouble and his last chance to redeem himself is by going to this camp. Little did Noah know, his wayward ways were going to catch up to him here. The antics amp up when this kids camp turns into a Home Alone type riotous act. 

There are lessons about team work, acceptance, how appearances can be deceiving, friendship, and more. This is a good story with some points to ponder for family discussion. We give Camp Hideout three angel wings out of four.

We were invited to read some of the books in their series at the Winter Park Library. After each reading, we engaged the kids in one of the activities found in the back of the books. It was a wonderful and well attended event where, at times, parents and kids were spilling out into the hallway. 

Across the U.S., there were more than 300 libraries in 46 states where Brave Books story times took place. That's a lot of kiddos coming to story time!
