Dinner Fun

Let's be honest. How many times have you sat down at the dinner table and it's quiet? Everyone's just eating like pigs at a trough. There's no conversation, the tv's on, or worst yet people are on their phones. Wouldn't it be nice to have engaging fun meals? 

One of our family's favorite places to eat is Chick-fil-A. A few times the special surprise was Dinner Games or Table Topics. It's a series of cards that engages families (or friends) around the dinner table. Here are a few of the ideas you can do:

"Handfuls of Imagination"
This is kind of like charades but it's all in the palms of your hands. Someone cups their hands and offers clues to the imaginary thing they are holding. It can be as big as the sky or as little as an ant. 

"Virtual Hide and Seek"
While seated at the table, one person "hides" somewhere around the house in their mind. The others guess where they are hiding. The first one to guess gets to "hide" next. All hiding spots have to be realistic. We allow questions for this one. For example, we'll ask, "Are you hiding in one of the bedrooms?"

Table Topics - Can You Imagine?

...if you were the mayor of your town, what laws would you create?
...would you rather climb the highest mountain or dive the deepest sea?
...if you could have any skill (or super power) in the world, what would you pick and why?
...what would be a really good flavor for toothpaste?

These are all fun things to do at the dinner table. It's good for kids and grown ups and it doesn't add any extra calories. We get a peek into our kiddos' minds and that's not only fun, it's insightful too.
