Potatoes, onions, and carrots are a staple to have in your fridge or pantry. My chef husband would also add celery to that list. It is so easy to make so many different quick recipes with these items. You can make a stew, soup, one and done main meal, crock pot delight, and more!
The other night I made a simple, yet delicious one and done main meal using most of these staples and adding a meat. I sliced up a package of Applegate Chicken and Apple Sausage. Diced some potatoes and let them boil to al dente. Cut and sauteed a whole onion and added a bag of Bird's Eye frozen onions and tri-color peppers to the mix. While they sauteed, I added some fennel, garlic, a tiny dash of salt and pepper. When the potatoes were al dente, they got drained then added to the potatoes and sausage pan. After stirring and sauteing til everything was mixed together I let them simmer for a few minutes. Once it was on the table it was winner winner chicken dinner! We love this stuff! Keep it simple in the kitchen and in life. A nice motto to go by. #simplestaples #winnerwinner #chickensausagedinner #angelskeepitsimple #whereisyourangel #angelwatchingoverme #angelbooksforkids #watchmanangel #startyourangelsmission #introducingangelstofamilies #simplydivine

A great time was had by all last night at Chick-fil-A! The families, kids, and patrons enjoyed hearing the books read in the Where Is Your Angel?™ series. After the stories were read, the kids enjoyed making angel book marks. Make sure to order your book or the series of books online and start your angel's mission today! You can also print up your own Angel Book Marks under the Kids page on our website. Here are some pictures from last night: #holycow #chickfilalovesangels #whereisyourangel #angelwatchingoverme #familiesandangels #kidsangelbooks #angelbooksforkids #startyourangelsmissiontoday #watchmanangel #angelcrafts
Summer is the time to catch up on or keep up on your book reading. Not all books can be read in 30 minutes. Some have lots of chapters and take time. My kids and I usually read before bedtime. We just finished 2 Hardy Boys books. Our 3rd book is set in Florida. We don't get to read every night as we have different activities or commitments going on. So it's always nice to have a book mark handy to mark where we left off.
Since book marks are great to have when reading a book or marking a favorite spot in a book, we decided to create our own. Our Activities Department got to work and did a great job. Our newest printable and activity on the website is the Angel Book Marks. There are 6 watchman angels per page. You can color them, cut them, and place them in your books. You can also give them away to friends and family. What a nice gift to give to fellow book readers! And it's our gift to you. We are reading the angel books at a local Chick-fil-A and are bringing the book mark crafts with us for the kids to decorate and keep. It's summer fun for everyone! So check it out on our "Kids" page. Go to "Printable Activities", scroll down and click on "Angel Book Marks." They work best printed on cardstock paper. Happy Reading! #angelbookmarks #summerreading #readingaboutangels #kidsangelbooks #angelonthemantle #chickfila #familynight #summerfun #gottagetmyangel #whereisyourangel #angelwatchingoverme Want to know more about the Where Is Your Angel?™ series of books and even hear a partial reading of the namesake book? Then you are in luck! Tomorrow afternoon you can hear an interview on our books that Salem Media Group did. It was great to be in the studio with Hosts Chris Hart & Rich Jaeckle. When a loved one is away from us for an extended period of time we look forward to when they come home. I think of our men and women in the military on deployment. Their families are so happy for their return! Also, when someone who lives far away comes to visit, family and friends stand with "Welcome!" signs at the airport to greet them.
Homecoming is also known as the day an adopted child joins their family. What a special act of love a birth mother gives to parents - the gift of a child. The watchman angels in our book series long to be adopted as part of your family's lives. We chose to name the day a watchman angel comes into your homes as "Homecoming Day!" because the day an angel's mission starts is really the day it becomes a part of your family - for a lifetime. Welcome your angel into your homes with a party, a poem, or a special tradition. Then remember to celebrate the anniversary of your angel's Homecoming Day each year. Send us your celebration ideas and pictures. We may feature them on our blog, website, and/or social media accounts! #homecomingwingsday #angelpictures #whereisyourangel #adoptedangel #watchmanangel #angelwatchingoverme #kidsbooksonangels #ilovemyangel #partofthefamily “Spiritual suicide” is a phrase my pastor said several times during his sermon yesterday. He was talking about how Adam allowed Eve to commit spiritual suicide by not intervening in the garden. He also referenced told how the High Priest Eli didn't intervene in an appropriate way when parenting his kids. Eli gave his kids lectures instead of correction. Hence his kids committed spiritual suicide. So did Adam and Eve. So do many of us. Whether it's kids or teens we let run the roost, a loved one in a toxic relationship, or not telling a neighbor about Jesus who loves them. Spiritual suicide is around us everywhere. When we can but don't do anything to stop harm, we allow it.
The past couple weeks our media has broadcast about a few celebrity suicides. For someone to come to the conclusion that suicide is a viable option they are in a very dark place. We have natural eyes that get appalled and mourn for what we see. But what about what we don't see? The unseen is stronger than the seen. The unseen dark emotions, thoughts, and beliefs are stronger than the seen actions that manifest themselves. You may be thinking what a heavy subject for an angel blog. It is an appropriate subject for an angel blog because angels are there when no one else is. They know the utter depths of misery and despair. If we listen to their whispers, wait for their strengthening touch, we will hear the voice of God and feel the power He sends with His messengers. An angel was there with Jesus in the anguish in the Garden of Gethsemane and there after Satan tempted Him when He was 40 days without food on a mountain. Angels are created by God for every season in our lives. Good, bad, dark, hopeful. One reason we wrote these books and promote the message of angels is because angels represent life. There is so much more joy an angel brings than an elf, fairy, or bunny. We want you to tap into the joy and hope a watchman angel brings. We don't want to offer families or anyone a pixie dust fairy tale that doesn't last when there is something so much more real and so much better. In your darkest moment, in your happiest hour, angels are there. Sent by God to point to Him. The Creator of all that is good, loving, merciful, and just. There is hope – no matter the season or circumstance. Angels bring the hope we all need. Even when you say it, “angel,” doesn't your spirit feel lighter and a smile come across your face? Trust in Him. He knows best. #spiritualsuicide #Fatherknowsbest #angelshelp #angelsminister #watchmanangel #whereisyourangel #angelwatchingoverme #hope #kidsbookonangels #gottagetmyangel #angelbooksrock ot too long ago I posted a picture of a multi-generational family with an angel. It was cute. There was the grandfather, father, two boys, and a watchman angel. Since Father's Day is Sunday, I thought it appropriate to post the photo here that has garnered the most looks in all the angel photos we've posted to date. Love on your fathers this weekend. Let them know they're special. And if you happen to have your watchman angel nearby, strike a pose with them, and tag us. When you send them, we'll post them. Who knows, your angel picture may topple this one for most views. Here is the picture that has garnered well over 1,000 views and counting: #happyfathersday #angelpictures #angelbooksforkids #whereisyourangel #angelwatchingoverme #ilovemywatchmanangel #gottagetmyangel #startmyangelsmission #mostpopular
Blue, or at least a blue hue, is our color around here. We picked blue for the angel's robe for several reasons. The most practical reason being that white and kids don't go so well together.
Another reason is because blue is a heavenly color. It is the color of the sky and water. Blue also is symbolic of wisdom, trust, and authority. In the paint world it is known as a calming color for rooms. I have also read that blue is related to loyalty and strength. All characters we want in an angel. Especially an angel for our kids. Blue can have another meaning not related to color. If you are feeling blue in your mood, then I would encourage you to read one of our angel books. The first book includes a study on angels in the back of the book. When you think about angels and read about them it lifts your mood. We were made to look up - at the blue sky, to the Creator of the heavens, and to admire the beauty around us. When we look down or are me-centric our moods are no longer uplifting. When our vision falls horizontal it is easy to go down. So be encouraged to embrace the beauty of blue. The blue of the sky, the blue water that brings life, the blue pool that refreshes, and the blue-robed angel that brings meaning to your family. #beautyofblue #bluerobedangel #meaningfulangel #whereisyourangel #angelwatchingoverme #kidsangelbooks #gottagetmyangel #angelicdelight #lookup I came across this recipe my uncle gave the family. They made this cake for my aunt's 60th birthday and it was a huge hit.
It is made with wine. Since there are still some sweet strawberries in the store it seems appropriate to try out this recipe and get us over our middle of the week humpday. Cheers! STRAWBERRY WINE CAKE Preheat oven to 325 degrees. 1 box white cake mix 1 package strawberry gelatin 1 cup strawberry wine 4 eggs ½ cup cooking oil Grease and flour pan of your choice. Combine cake mix with gelatin and other ingredients. Mix well. Pour into pan and bake for 45 minutes. When the cake is done and is warm in the pan, poke holes in it with a skewer or slim butter knife. While the cake is cooling off, make the Wine Glaze. WINE GLAZE ½ stick butter ¼ cup strawberry wine 1 cup powdered sugar Mix all ingredients together in a pot and bring to a boil. Cook until thickened (or you get tired of boiling it). Let cake cool. Spoon or dribble Wine Glaze onto cooled cake. Decorate the top with sliced strawberries or serve the strawberries on the side. Enjoy it with a glass of your favorite bubbly! #sweettooth #winecake #whereisyourangel #wingsday #angelbooksforkids #wineformommy #angelwatchingoverme #bakingangel #ilovemywatchmanangel This summer we implemented some summer rules in our house. I introduced the summer rules yesterday to my kids. They immediately took to them like ducks to water.
This morning at 10:00 a.m. our house was quiet. My husband was in the kitchen. I looked at him puzzled and commented about the quietness. He mouthed in absolute amazement, "The kids are doing that list." They were in the sitting area at the table diligently creating their own comics. I smiled. Mission accomplished. On the thirtyhandmadedays.com website I found a Summer Rules list. For ease of reference it is attached here: summer_rules.pdf. I am laminating it so my kids can check off each one as they go with an eraseable marker. That way the Rules can be used fresh each day. It has practically eliminated the, "I'm bored. What can I do? Can I play on the phone? Can I play on the Wii? Can I watch...?" questions. You may notice that this Summer Rules doesn't say how long the kid/s can play electronics, that is up to you. Since these Rules do things in 20 minutes increments, I tell them it's 20 minutes on the electronics. They also know electronic time is up to Mommy's discretion. Deciding factors would be how well they played together or how well they cleaned up their room and the like. It's a great and fun way to organize summer days or even weekend days. I'm a fan! #summerrules #angelsonsummerbreak #angelbooksforkids #angelonthemantle #whereisyourangel #angelwatchingoverme #gottahavemyangel #createandorganize |
