Here's a tip for your plants in pots. If you need a quick fix for a plate for your planter that your plant is in (say that 5 times really fast!) here's what you can do. Use an upside down frisbee. Yep, a frisbee upside down (where it dips) with your potted plant inside works very similar to one of those drainage plates for pots. I don't know about you, but we seem to accumulate frisbees. They are cheap at the stores and plentiful as marketing giveaways.

One of my plants needed a drainage plate and the frisbee did just the trick. You can keep the frisbee there until you go to the store and buy a matching drainage plate for your pot. Or you can keep the frisbee and give your plant a kind of eclectic look. The choice is yours and the frisbee fix works well!
