Listen To Yourself

Sometimes we really don't want to listen to ourselves. If I listened to myself all the time I'd probably eat ice cream after every meal. (And if you are doing that, you should really stop. It's not a good idea.)

Recently I drove by a store whose marquee said, "Measure twice. Cut once. Curse. Repeat." Now while I completely agree with the first half of the sign, the second half does not sit well with me. Let's think about the last word in that sign. "Curse." If we were to conduct "man on the street" interviews and ask people, which would you choose "curse" or "bless"? My guess is "curse' wouldn't have any legitimate takers.

Just listen to that word, "curse." Eeek, who wants to be under a curse or near someone speaking a curse? Let alone, who wants to go around "cursing" all day? or even part of the day?

Let's listen to ourselves and make sure we curse less, and bless more. I prefer the blessing over a curse any day. And I'll take a repeat of the blessing please!
