As a Bookcrash! book reviewer, every so often I have the opportunity to share with you a good book that may or may not be on your radar. This time around the book I reviewed is titled, "Little Girl Crying" by Belinda Rose.
This author is unique in that not only has she written and published a book that received a "Reader's Favorite Five Stars" award, but she also has an art gallery AND has a CD to go along with her book. Whew, what talents! The reason I chose her book is because of the subject matter. It's universal and very real. This story is about Belinda's many decades struggle with an eating disorder (among other things). She goes into detail about how it started, the compounding pain that added to it, and her eventual healing from it. I was pulled into her story and felt her struggle and her pain. As a mom, I was taking mental notes of what to look for in a child who finds themselves tempted to take a similar path. The author opens up her life -the good, the bad, and the ugly - to paint a picture of the depth of her darkness. Her story, however, is not one that ends on a sad note. She takes the reader on her progressive path of healing and there are some surprises along the way. This story beautifully represents the truths found in Romans 8:28, "And we know [with great confidence] that God [who is deeply concerned about us] causes all things to work together [as a plan] for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to His plan and purpose." Belinda's love for people to be set free from the bondages that hold them captive is evident throughout the culmination of this book. You can hear her heart in each chapter - both the little girl crying because of the pain to the mature woman whose tears are now tears of joy. If you or someone you know suffers from demons inside - any type (rejection, abuse, depression, disorders,...) - then you would benefit from this book. The hope this book points to springs off the pages and envelopes like a warm blanket or a cleansing, refreshing shower. The poems she has dispersed throughout the book are also poignant.
