Nice or Kind?

Are you a nice person or a kind person? Is there really even a difference? Once someone said there was a stark difference between being nice and being kind. The difference had to do with the person's intention.

Here is the explanation they gave. If someone was being kind they would tell you (politely) something you didn't know about yourself but needed to know. Such as, "You have a booger on the tip of your nose." The person's interests were for your well-being not theirs.

If someone was being nice, they would tell you something to make themselves look good in your eyes. For example, they would compliment you on your outfit but really they did not like it. Their compliment to you was aimed to make themselves look good to you. It was not genuine or sincere.
