Potatoes, onions, and carrots are a staple to have in your fridge or pantry. My chef husband would also add celery to that list. It is so easy to make so many different quick recipes with these items. You can make a stew, soup, one and done main meal, crock pot delight, and more!
The other night I made a simple, yet delicious one and done main meal using most of these staples and adding a meat. I sliced up a package of Applegate Chicken and Apple Sausage. Diced some potatoes and let them boil to al dente. Cut and sauteed a whole onion and added a bag of Bird's Eye frozen onions and tri-color peppers to the mix. While they sauteed, I added some fennel, garlic, a tiny dash of salt and pepper. When the potatoes were al dente, they got drained then added to the potatoes and sausage pan. After stirring and sauteing til everything was mixed together I let them simmer for a few minutes.
Once it was on the table it was winner winner chicken dinner! We love this stuff!
Keep it simple in the kitchen and in life. A nice motto to go by.
